Tina Louise (nee Sholes) Clinton
On Saturday, September 7, 2019, Tina passed away at her home in Newton County, Indiana at the age of 48. She was born to John and Marie Sholes on April 17, 1971 at Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia. Her parents moved back to Indiana in January of 1972. Tina graduated from North Newton High School in 1990. During her young life most of her jobs involved her passion for animals or people. Tina worked at the Paul Keller House in Sheldon, IL for several years with disabled individuals. She worked at the Crown Point Animal Hospital from 1999-2001 and as a receptionist in Dyer, IN for Dr. Reena John in Pediatrics before becoming a stay at home mom.
During her childhood, she loved taking trips to Ohio and West Virginia to visit family. Some of her fondest memories were of sneaking her Grandma’s buckeye candies, rolling down the hill in the front yard and swinging on the front porch swing watching for the trains to go by. She loved learning to ride horses at her aunt and uncles and catching lightning bugs in the yards at night. Tina’s love for horses and animals never wavered. She was an advocate for animals of any kind.
Tina loved to take her children to the Indiana Dunes on spontaneous trips to watch the sun go down, the waves come in and dip her toes in the sand, it was the closest thing to the ocean – which she loved. She loved to travel and go on adventures. She loved dining out – some of her favorites were Red Lobster, BC Osaka and the House of Kobe. She also cherished sitting on her parent’s front porch listening to stories of the past, laughing at her Dad’s jokes, and watching the kids create memories.
Her most favorite holiday was Christmas Eve, when all the family gathered together for a fish fry from her Dad’s catches of the year, and she received the best present ever – her Mom’s peanut butter fudge.
Tina loved her family and friends dearly. She is survived by her beautiful children: Cole, Ana and Natalie, parents: John & Marie Sholes, sisters: Annette Sargent and Melinda (Troy) Crane, nephews: Brice & Blake Sargent and Brayden & Tyler Crane, many aunts, uncles, cousins and lifelong friends.
Tina was proceeded in death by her grandparents: Cecil Earl & Irene Sholes, and Earl & Lorena Short, aunts: Eleanor Morgan and Libby Hayhurst and uncles: Wilbur Eugene (Donnie) Sholes and Hansford (Worm) Sholes.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. (CST) on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana. Services for Tina will take place at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Roberts officiating.
