Anthony Steinmetz, Sr.

79 year old, Anthony ‘Tony’ Steinmetz Sr., of DeMotte, passed away Friday, February 25, 2022 at Franciscan Health Crown Point, Indiana.

 

On May 24, 1942, Anthony Wayne Steinmetz, was born to Anthony and Elsie (Blaser) Steinmetz. He graduated from Kansas City Public High School, class of 1961. After graduation he joined the Marines and proudly served his country from 1961 until 1965. He married the love of his life Doris Maxine Lewin on November 5th, 1966 at 1st Christian Church in Valparaiso. Anthony was a member of the Christian Church of DeMotte. Anthony was a welder and millwright at U.S. Steel for 39 years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and WWII memorabilia and movies.    He loved woodworking, welding and making things for his grandkids. He loved his family and playing jokes on his kids and grandkids.

 

Anthony is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Doris Steinmetz; children: Debra (Derrick) Beery, Sandy (Mushtaq) Mir, Tony (Donna) Steinmetz Jr., 10 grandkids: William, Marisa, Christian, Adam, Dane, Ian, Brittany, siblings: John, David, Anita, Juanita, Venita, & Denita.

 

Anthony was preceded in death by his parents, and grandsons: Ryan, Matthew and Joshua.

 

Per Anthony’s wishes cremation will take place, and a Celebration of Life will take place at Graceland Cemetery on May 7, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. with Military services.
