Betty Jo Kilgore

70 year old, Betty Jo Kilgore, of Valparaiso, formerly of Wheatfield, passed away June 11, 2024 with her loving family around her.

On January 30, 1954, Betty Jo was born to Floyd and Jo Nell (Latham) Kilgore in Gary, Indiana. She graduated from Merrillville High School. Betty Jo spent 25 years working at the Valparaiso Walmart deli, giving free cheese to visiting children. She loved going to her grandchildren’s’ sporting events, and just spending quality time with her family and her friends.

Betty Jo is survived by her children: Jason Swallow, Jeremy (Tiffany) Swallow, Joey (Kristin) Swallow, Justin Swallow, 11 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, siblings: Linda Bolde, Tom (Janet) Kilgore, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty Jo is preceded in death by her parents, and infant daughters: Mary Jo Elizabeth Swallow and Michalene Lynette Swallow.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at South Lake Church; 7355 E. 81^st Ave. (US 30), Crown Point, IN 46307. Services for Betty Jo will be at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024 with Pastor Michael Triem officiating. Interment at a later date will be at the DeMotte Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital.
