73 year old, Charles ‘Chuck’ Pettit, of Wheatfield, passed away April 22, 2026.

On June 27, 1952, Chuck was born to Donald and Margaret (Marx) Pettit, in Corning, Iowa. He was a veteran of the United States Army, who served in Korea. Chuck worked as a welder for Inland Steel and the Ford Motor Company. He loved welding, and working on cars. Chuck took great joy in taking care of others, riding motorcycles, and working out. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wheatfield, and travelled with them to Israel, loving it there so much he went back again.

Chuck is survived by his children: Bonnie Peters, Nick Bobis, Sherry Sanders, Shannon (Chuck) Dres, Shelly (Jeremy) Schering, Ellen Lain, Morgan Pettit, Lonzell Pettit, Todd Pettit, Nathaniel Pettit, 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, brother: Dennis (Debbie) Pettit, sister-in-law: Kerry Pettit, and the mother of his children: Pamela Marlow.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother: Jimbo Pettit.

Friends are invited to join the family at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 West Hoff Road, Elwood, Illinois, for a Military Honors and Funeral Service for Chuck. The family would like to invite Chuck's friends to a gathering directly after the service at the Stone City VFW Post 2199, 124 Stone City Dr., Joliet, IL 60436.
