Charles J. Petro

83 year old, Charles J. Petro, of DeMotte, passed away August 19, 2023, at Aperion Care, DeMotte, Indiana.

Charles was born in Gary, Indiana, to Samuel and Arlene Petro. Charles served in the Merchant Marines (Navy). He married the love of his life, Carol S Wallace on February 2, 1974, in Merrillville, Indiana. Charles worked at Inland Steel. After retiring from Inland, Charles moved to Missouri to be a Conservation Officer. After retiring for the second time, he and Carol moved back to Indiana. Charles loved fishing and operating his boat.

Charles is survived by his children: Debra (Rick) Qualls, Frank Stum, Steve (Sandy) Stum, 5 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife: Carol, parents, and his siblings.

Per Charles’ wishes he will be cremated and laid to rest beside his beloved, Carol, at the Oak Grove Cemetery, in Washington, Indiana, on Sunday, August 27^th, 2023.
