On Friday, April 7, 2023, Daniel Martin Kaluf passed away at home, surrounded by family, from a rare kidney cancer (HLRCC).

 

On December 27,1975, (47 yrs.) Dan was born to Marty and Barbara (Blankenbaker) Kaluf in Valparaiso, IN. He graduated from KV High School, class of 1994.Dan married his high school sweetheart, Jennifer Hyatt, on April 12, 1997. Together they raised two wonderful children, Derek and Abigail. He looked forward to welcoming a new daughter-in-law, Morgan Adams, next June. 

 

Dan took great pride in working at Fase-Kaluf Appliances, taking ownership of the business after his father’s retirement. Outside of work, Dan enjoyed playing golf, listening to music, and playing games with his family.

 

Dan fought his cancer fiercely for five years. During his fight, he traveled to the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland every two weeks for experimental treatment in hopes of helping researchers develop a cure. Dan was passionate about finding a cure and hosted several fundraising events to raise money for the organization, Driven to Cure. Along with friends, family, and supporters of the events, Dan raised over $70,000.

 

Dan is survived by his wife and children, parents, and his siblings: Jeremy (Joy) Kaluf, Lisa (Chris) Rudolph, his twin, David (Kimberly) Kaluf, Jennifer (Dan) Hassan, and Travis (Kailie) Kaluf. He was known as a fun-loving uncle by his sixteen nieces and nephews. Countless friends and extended family will deeply miss him. Dan touched the lives of everyone he met and will be remembered for his contagious smile, quick wit, and unwavering positivity even through his most difficult times. Through his memories, Dan will live on in the hearts of everyone that knew him.

 

All are invited to Dan Kaluf’s Celebration of Life, Sunday, April 30, 2023, at Sandy Pines Pavilion at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Troy Nanninga officiating. An open house visitation will follow from 2:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. The family welcomes all to come and remember Dan, share memories and celebrate his life the way he would want us all to.
