Daniel Wayne Zandstra

63 year old, Daniel Wayne Zandstra of Wheatfield, passed away June 6, 2016 at his home in his shop.

On March 24, 1953, Dan was born to Charles & June (Swart) Zandstra in Rensselaer, Indiana. Dan was among the first graduating class from Kankakee Valley High School’s class of 1971. He earned an associate’s degree from PNC. He married the love of his life Donna Stalbaum, on February 23, 1973 in DeMotte, Indiana. He retired from Inland Steel / Arcelor Mittal Steel where he worked in Instrument Technician. Dan was a member of the American Reformed Church, Porter County Pilots & E.A.A. (Experimental Aircraft Assoc.). He loved traveling with Donna, and enjoyed motorcycle trips with his friends, more than anything Dan loved spending time with his family.

Daniel is survived by his loving family: wife: Donna, daughters: Pam (Jason) Abbring, Paula Zandstra, grandchildren: Emma & Daniel Abbring, mother: June Hielema, siblings: David Zandstra, Cheryl Rogers, Susan (David) Beggs, Diane Zandstra, and many nieces and nephews.

Dan was preceded in death by his father: Charles Zandstra, stepmother: Jean Zandstra, brother-in-laws: Daniel Stalbaum & Jerry Koster.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the American Reformed Church, DeMotte, Indiana. Services for Dan will take place at the church at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Troy Nannenga officiating. Private family interment service will follow at the Sorrowful Mother Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to:

American Heart Association and a Scholarship fund that will be set up in Dan’s name for Purdue Aviation.
