Dennis Lee Salyer

Dennis Lee Salyer 64 passed away Monday, December 4th in Knox Indiana.

Dennis was born July 16 1959 to Fontain and Mary Sue (Scutchfield) Salyer. Dennis graduated from North Judson- San Pierre high school in 1978.  In the spring of 2013, Dennis Graduated from Purdue University North Central with a Bachelor’s degree. He was widely and affectionately known by the nickname “Housecat” although he took the most pride in the nickname “Paw”, which is how all the grandchildren addressed him. Dennis was a proud and loving father and grandfather. He coached his son’s baseball teams for countless years and enjoyed teaching his grandsons about the sport. Dennis enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life. He left his grandchildren with fond memories of fishing with Paw. Those moments stuck out to them because of the funny stories he would tell them with a fishing pole in his hand and endless patience. Dennis was loved dearly and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by: mother: Mary Sue (Scutchfield) Salyer, son: Derrick (Ashlee) Salyer, daughter: Ashley Salyer, son: Brandon (Kim) Campbell, grandchildren: grandson: Noah Salyer, granddaughter: Hannah Salyer, grandson: Josiah Salyer, grandson: Uriah Salyer, grandson: Judah Salyer, granddaughter: Adaline Salyer, grandson: Brian Machovec, grandson: Caelan Campbell, granddaughter: Kailee Campbell, brother: Leonard (Joy) Salyer, sister: Sherry (Salyer) Cowen, brother: Richard Salyer.

Preceded in death by his father: Fontain Salyer.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. (CST) on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 E. Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana. Services for Dennis will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday, at 12:00 p.m. (CST) with Pastor Todd Masters. Interment will follow at White Post Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be given to Boersma’s funeral home.
