Devon L. Jones

70 year old, Devon L. Jones Sr., passed away November 25, 2009. He was a lifetime area resident of the Rensselaer/Wheatfield area.

On October 17, 1939, he was born to Frank and Opal (nee: Pettet) Jones in Rensselaer, Indiana. Devon attended Wheatfield High School, and was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1963. Devon worked at Indiana General as a machine operator for 43 years. On April 14, 1979, Devon married Grace Shepherd-Meyers in Gifford, Indiana.

Devon is survived by his wife: Grace, son, Devon L. Jones Jr., step-son Mike Meyers, step-son-in-law Terry Gross, step-grandchildren Sarah Gross and Aaron Gross; sisters Eva Jean Scott and Shirley Watson.

Devon was preceded in death by his parents, 1 step-daughter Wendy Gross, and brother Frank Jones and sister Phyllis Kennedy.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Sunday, November 29, 2009 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Boersma Funeral Home. Services for Devon will take place on Monday, November 30, 2009, at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Bob DePlanty officiating. Interment will take place in the Wheatfield Cemetery.
