87 year old, Dottie Mae Bahler, of Remington, passed away January 7, 2023, with her loving family around her.

 

Dottie was born on March 21, 1935, to Emery and Mildred (Allen) Gray in Hillsboro, Indiana. She graduated high school and attended Ball State University attaining her BA. She then attended Purdue University for her MS. Dottie taught at Gilboa, Rensselaer, Remington, and Tri-County schools for 30+ years. She married the love of her life, Russell Howard Bahler on June 24, 1956 in Hillsboro, Indiana. She was a member and President at the State level of ISTA, ISTA Retired Teachers Association, Sorority Delta Zeta at Ball State, Psi Iota Xi at Remington, and was a Bunco Lady for 40 yrs. She liked to Farkle with others, her sunny trips to Florida, her colorful joke telling, and spending time with her family. She loved food, shopping, euchre, art, music, singing in the choir, and traveling.

 

Dottie is survived by her, husband: Russell Howard Bahler, children: Melonye (Ray) Schebler, Todd (Mary Ann) Bahler, 5 grandchildren: Robert, Mark, Cody, Morgan, Brittney, and 3 great-grandchildren: Alex, Leela, Mason, and one on the way.

 

Dottie was preceded in death by her parents, and brother: Paul Gray.

 

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. (EST) on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at the Remington United Methodist Church, 121 S. Ohio St., Remington, Indiana. Services for Dottie will take place at 11:00 a.m. (EST) at the church with Pastor Cathi Parish officiating.

Interment will take place at a later time.

 

In lieu of flowers memorials are requested for:

Remington United Methodist Church, or the Fountain Park Chautauqua, Remington, Indiana.
