Edith J. Nist

95 year old, Edith J. Nist of Monticello, passed away April 27, 2021.

On September 5, 1925, Edith was born to Edmond and Ida (Foreman) Perry, in Herscher, Illinois. She married her husband, Paul Nist on December 14, 1974 in Remington, Indiana. Edith was a bookkeeper and a Stanley – home representative/saleswoman for 50+ years. Edith loved to crochet, creating afghans for all of her grandchildren when they were born. She also enjoyed fishing, play bingo, and keeping a garden. Edith loved to cook and she enjoyed going to the casinos.

Edith is survived by her husband: Paul Nist, children: Dale (Teresa) Heusing, Kathleen ‘Kathy’ Alberts, Barry Gilbert, Clarence (Dianne) Gilbert Jr., 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, step-children Paul Alan (Doreen) Nist, Jean (Dennis) Stitz, and Linda (Harry) Gudeman.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents, daughter: Carol Skaggs, and siblings: John Perry, Francis Perry, Edna Legacy, Vernette Contois, and infant sister: Gertrude.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. (Eastern Standard Time) at the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Goodland, Indiana, on Saturday May 1, 2021. A funeral mass for Edith will follow at 10:00 a.m. (EST) with Father Joshua Bennett officiating. Interment will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Remington, Indiana.
