Garry W. Van Baren

79 year old, Garry W. Van Baren Sr., of DeMotte, passed away May 15, 2021 with his loving family around him.

On October 11, 1941, Garry was born to Gerrit and Minnie (Blink) Van Baren, in Harvey, Illinois. He graduated from Illiana Christian High School, and married the love of his life, Walita  Van Kanegan on October 4, 1962, in South Holland, Illinois. Gary and his wife, Walita owned and operated our local Ben Franklin store for many years.

Garry is survived by his wife: Walita, son: Dale (Gina) Van Baren, 11 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren, and brother: Robert (Gerri) Van Baren.

Garry was preceded in death by his parents, and son: Garry W. Van Baren Jr.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 21, 2021 at the Community Church of Roselawn, and services to follow at the church with Pastor Jim Busscher officiating.

Per Garry’s wishes cremation will take place and interment will follow at a later date at the Holland Cemetery.
