Gertrude 'Trudi' Van Eck

99 year old, Gertrude ‘Trudy’ Van Eck, of DeMotte, passed away November 16, 2022.

On August 16, 1923, in DeMotte, Indiana, Trudy was born to Cornelius and Margaret (Kiersma) Mak. She was the oldest living graduate from DeMotte High School, class of 1941.  She married Herman C. Van Eck, on April 21, 1944, at the First Christian Reformed Church, in Roseland Chicago, Illinois. She enjoyed being a housewife, a correspondent, writer, doing church activities, beloved grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Trudy is survived by her children: Vicki Hill, Phillip (Marj) Van Eck, Timothy (Cherie) Van Eck, Stephan (Gabi) Van Eck, and Herman Jr. (Jan) Van Eck, 13 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.

Trudy was preceded in death by her husband: Herman, brother: John Mak and sister: Doris Mak, and son-in-law: James Hill.

Private graveside services will take place at Holland Cemetery, DeMotte, Indiana.

Celebration of Life service will take place on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the American Reformed Church, 1021 S Halleck St., DeMotte, Indiana.
