66 year old, Hans Hofferth, of DeMotte, passed away June 13, 2019, at his home.
On June 9, 1953, Hans was born in Valparaiso, Indiana. Hans’ parents were Robert and Betty Hofferth. Hans served in the U.S. Marines during Vietnam conflict. He was awarded National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (w/1 star), Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Rifle Marksmanship Badge. Hans married Jackie (Orten) Hofferth on August 26, 2000, in Crown Point, Indiana. He worked for the Local #81 as a laborer. Hans loved to hunt, fish, play pool, arrow head hunting, nature watching (while he was driving), woodworking, mushroom hunting, and especially his ‘boys’ (grandsons and granddaughters).
Hans is survived by his family: wife: Jackie, children: Brandi (Gary) Clapp, Kris Hofferth, Jenette (Matt) Holder, 13 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. Also, surviving are siblings: John (Joan) Fuller, Eleanor (Dave) Kanzler, Marvin (Billie) Hofferth, and Vera (Mike) Cahoon.
Hans was preceded in death by his parents, infant son: Joshua, and brother: Erwin
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Monday, June 17, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana.
Military Graveside services will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso, Indiana.
