Hazel Helton

88 year old, Hazel Mae Helton, of Wheatfield, passed away on October 10, 2021 at her home with her loving family around her, just 19 days shy of her 89th birthday.

On October 29, 1932, in Boone County Indiana, Hazel was born to Cecil and Opal (Corwin) Park. In 1938, the family moved to the Wheatfield area, and Hazel graduated from Wheatfield High School in 1950. She married the love of her life Eugene ‘Gene’ Helton in Rensselaer, Indiana, on July 18, 1952. Hazel was a housewife/beautician.

Hazel is survived by her children: Linda Helton, Rodney (Leanne) Helton, Lori (Brad) Wray, and Lisa (Tim) Witkowski, 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband: Gene, infant son, infant twin daughters, and siblings: Betty Wilkerson, Marie Crownover-Helzer, and Dick Hagler.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Boersma Funeral Home, 90 E Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana. Services for Hazel will take place on Friday, October 15, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor James Clark, officiating. Interment will follow at the Wheatfield Cemetery, Wheatfield, Indiana.
