Hubert L. Taylor

90 year old, Hubert L. Taylor, of DeMotte passed away November 3, 2019 with his loving family around him.

On August 22, 1929, Hubert was born in Boaz, Alabama to Joseph and Odene (Bartlett) Taylor. He joined the U.S. Army, Air Force when he was 17 years old. He married Ivadell Thornhill in Rising Fawn, Georgia when they were both 17 and 16 years old, on July 24, in 1947. Hubert worked for Republic Steel and retired as a Supervisor. He was also the Chairman of the Union Negotiation Committee. He also served as a deacon at the Graceway Bible Baptist Church (KV Bible Baptist).

Hubert is survived by his loving family: wife: Ivadell, children: Dianne (Herb) Spager-Cory, Karen (Stan) Cales, Ret. Lt. Col. Kevin (Tara) Taylor, Kimberly (Mike) Sokolowski, 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, and 2 brothers: Joseph Taylor and Gene (Patricia) Taylor.

Hubert was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law: Martin ‘Marty’ Sparger, and 3 brothers: Harold Taylor, Wayne Taylor, Eulis Taylor, and sister: Patsy Phillips

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2019, at the Graceway Bible Baptist Church, DeMotte, Indiana. Services for Hubert will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2019, at the church with Pastor Greg Hon officiating. Hubert will lie in state one hour prior to services.

Interment will take place at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Boaz, Alabama at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Graceway Bible Baptist Church.
