James 'Jim' Ardith Dobson

James (Jim) Ardith Dobson, 74, of Bradenton, Florida, and Wheatfield, Indiana, departed this world for his heavenly home on August 27, 2017.

Jim was born in Vest, Kentucky on December 2, 1942 to Mitchell and Maudie Dobson. Jim attended the Wheatfield school system where he met Althalee Middelkamp. Jim and Althalee married on August 18, 1962 and they were blessed with a loving family which included four children, twelve grandchildren, one great grandson, and one soon to be great granddaughter. Jim was involved in local church activities, including jail ministry and Gideons International, and was a well-respected building contractor in northwest Indiana. In his spare time he enjoyed sitting on his porch talking with his family and friends, tackling small construction projects, bowling, and shuffleboard.

Jim is survived by his children: Dawn (Robb) Zea; Daniel (Barbara) Dobson; Deanna (Vlad) Veremchuk; David (Amy) Dobson; grandchildren: Taylor (Michael) Ditchfield and Micah Zea; Jessica (Walter) Wians and Ashley Dobson; Chyna, Andrew, and Joshua Staggs, and Haliya Veremchuk; Hannah, Caleb, Abigail, and Isaac Dobson; one great-grandchild: Jace Wians, and siblings, Clydia Schuerman, Robert (Betty) Dobson, Joyce (Allen) Martin, and Beverly (Gene) Wiseman.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Althalee (Middelkamp) Dobson; parents, Mitchell and Maudie Dobson; siblings: Katherine, Mitchell Jr., Hazel, Claudia, Janet & Maxine.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Calvary Assembly of God church in DeMotte.

Per Jim’s wishes he has been cremated and his ashes will be laid to rest at the DeMotte Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Calvary Assembly of God of DeMotte.

Local arrangements are being provided by Boersma Funeral Home of Wheatfield.

Jim considered his family to be his greatest blessing and his love for Jesus was evident to all who knew him. He will be dearly missed.
