88 year old, James ‘Jim’ Schultz, of Rensselaer, passed away on January 4, 2026, at home with his family around him.

On February 20, 1937, Jim was born to Howard and Marie (Stevens) Schultz in Rensselaer, Indiana. He graduated from Fair Oaks High School, class of 1955. Jim married the love of his life, Kristy Wood, on July 7, 1998, in Kentucky. He worked at Belstra Milling Company, and then worked at the Ford Stamping plant in Chicago Heights, as a machine repair technician. Jim enjoyed taxidermy, fishing, and collecting Royal Copley Pottery and St. Clair paperweights. He loved his animals: his peacocks, his donkey: Rocky, and his three geese: Moe, Larry, and Curly. Jim spent every Saturday night at the Shadyhill Speedway, watching his sons race.

Jim is survived by his wife: Kristy, children: Scott (Cheri) Schultz, Corey (Naomi) Schultz, Michael Schultz, Jordy Carrera, many grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and brother: Raymond Schultz.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Melvin Schultz, and granddaughter: Raven Schultz.

Per Jim’s wishes cremation will take place.
