Janet Boonstra

96 year old, Janet “Dolly” Boonstra, of DeMotte passed away November 18, 2020.

Janet was born on November 12, 1924, in South Holland, Illinois, to Peter and Jennie (VanDommelen) Anker. Janet worked in the food service industry. She married the late, Roger Boonstra, on January 27, 1944 in Lansing, Illinois. She attended Community Church of Roselawn, Indiana. She loved to bake, cook, and have family gatherings. She especially loved to sing hymns. She loved to comfort people with spiritual needs.

Janet is survived by her family: children: Randall (Sharon) Boonstra, Nancy (Dorsey) Byrd, Lynn (Jim) Mohr, Gayle (Gerald) Sikkenga, Karen (Ronald) Link, 11 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband: Roger, parents: Peter & Jennie, son-in-law: Calvin Spender, grandson: Wayne Spender, and siblings: John Anker, Kelly Anker, Minnie Miller, Nelly Eylander, Gertrude Kortum.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 22, 2020, at the Community Church of Roselawn, Indiana. Services for Janet will take place at the church at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 22, 2020 with Pastor Joel Zuidema officiating.  Interment will take place on Monday, November 23, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at the Holland Cemetery, DeMotte, Indiana.


Due to Covid 19 restrictions we respectfully ask that you follow all government mandates. Only 50 people will be allowed inside at any one time and must follow rules of social distancing. Please limit visits to 5 minutes or less, unless time permits.


She was such a kind & lovely Christian lady. Deepest sympathy to the Boonstra Family.

When I was struggling she sent me a book of prayers. I got thru those problems. I have always felt reading that book gave me the strength to get better. I thank this lady so much. I send my deepest sympathy to the entire family. Praying for all of you. Tuff times

She loved to shop so we would go shopping and then have lunch sometimes Bernice and Dorothy would go they called us the golden girls we laughed and always had so much fun I loved her much she had a heart of gold and really loved life I will miss her every day god bless you
