John Poisel

78 year old, John C. Poisel, of Medaryville, passed away August 22, 2026, at IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.

On February 3, 1948, John was born to Lawrence and Ruby (Williams) Poisel, in Rensselaer, Indiana. He graduated from Medaryville High School, class of 1966. John married the love of his life, Joyce Burton, on April 5, 1969, in Sheldon, Illinois, who precedes him. He served in the Indiana National Guard. John enjoyed watching classic tv: Andy Griffith, Lone Ranger, and he loved farming. His greatest joy in life was found spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.

John is survived by his daughters: Carrie (Jarrod) Barron, Michelle (Matt) Gunderman, goddaughters: Theresa (Dave) Hoover, Faith Shirk, 16 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.

John was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Joyce, and daughter: Lynn Marie.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. (EST) on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at the Medaryville Christian Church, 414 East Ridge Street, Medaryville. Funeral Services for John will be held at 11:00 a.m. (EST) on Friday, August 28, 2026, at the church with Pastor Tom Dewlen officiating. Interment will follow at the Independence Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Medaryville Christian Church.
