71 year old, Luis Manuel Gallo, of Winamac, passed away on February 8, 2026, at home with his loving family beside him.

On February 12, 1954, Luis was born to Manuel and Luzmila (Colero) Gallo in Camguey, Cuba. He graduated from Lew Wallace High School, class of 1975. Luis married the love of his life, Kathryn Calhoon, on January 21, 2011, in Valparaiso, Indiana. He worked as a machinist and laborer in his life, for both the Oil Workers Union 7-1 and Steel Workers Local 1010. Luis was a member of the Morocco Masonic Lodge 372. He was a hard worker, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, taking care of his yard, and tiger lilies. Luis loved his cats, and raising chickens and goats.

Luis is survived by his loving wife: Kathryn, children: Robert (Heather) Gallo, Julie (Nathan) Reed, Luis (Stephanie) Gallo II, Chris (Jamese) Gallo, and 5 grandchildren.

Luis was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10:00 until 12:00 p.m. (CST) on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove Street, Wheatfield, Indiana. Funeral services for Luis will take place at the funeral home at 12:00 p.m. with a Masonic Service at that time and with Chaplain Sam Shaver officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital.
