Marietta Newbury

99 year old, Marietta Newbury, of Wheatfield, passed away September 8, 2026, at home with her loving family around her.

On May 21, 1927, Marietta was born to C. Wesley Sr. and Iona (Griffin) Clemans, in Rensselaer, Indiana. She married the love of her life, Arthur Newbury Sr., on September 25, 1954, who precedes her. Marietta worked as an aide at the Rensselaer Hospital, then spent years in the kitchen at the DeMotte Elementary School. She enjoyed watching her game shows, and the birds that would be in her feeders around her house. Marietta took pride in her work, but also enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spoiling her grandchildren.

Marietta is survived by her children: Kathy (Simon) Sipkema, Carolyn (Elliot) Williams, John Newbury, 10 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren with another on the way.

Marietta is preceded in death by her husband: Arthur Sr., parents, son: Arthur Newbury Jr., sisters: Betty Williams, Violet Miller, brother: Clarence Clemans Jr., and daughter-in-law: Debra Newbury.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Friday, September 11, 2026, at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 E. Grove St., Wheatfield. Funeral Services for Marietta will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday with Pastor William Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at the Wheatfield Cemetery.
