Marlene Dee Bellemey

On Monday, May 1, 2023, Marlene Dee Bellemey, loving wife, mother, and meegaw left this world at the age of 62.

Love and family were the foundations of Marlene’s life which began on September 20,1960. Everyone and anyone could never forget because her birthday began on September 1 and lasted the entire month. Marlene had amazing role models as examples for what a family could be in her parents Clifford and Lorena (Stone) Bailey. On February 4th, 1978, at Bailey Corner Church, Marlene married the love of her life, Robert J. Bellemey. Together they enjoyed 45 years of marriage and were blessed, yes blessed, with two children and three grandchildren. In that time, she had her share of sorrow as well by losing her only son.  But Marlene would never stop her life as a caretaker and enjoyed being a homemaker, gardening and taking care of her flowers. Anyone who drove around Culver could see how much money oops I mean time she spent outside watering flowers. You would never hear these words, “shh don’t tell Bob but I bought another plant.” NEVER! This would result in a healthy output of tomatoes that would be canned as Grandma Bailey used to do.

Bob was typically pulled into most things that Marlene voluntold I mean volunteered him to do such as crafting and karaoke parties. All at first seemed daunting with the FaceBook Marketplace meetups and thrift shop finds but in the end there were laughs and memories shared by all.

Marlene also loved stopping to watch rainbows, sunrises and sunsets and take photos of them as well.  Marlene especially loved her grandchildren.

Marlene had a fashion sense that was like no other. She would always be the one to wear neon colors to help her tan stand out and always have her nails just right as well as makeup and hair on point. That definitely skipped a generation for sure, thanks mama. This did not fade with time or decade but she did accumulate clothing and overtake more closet space through the years but never have anything to wear or often be in a gown.

Love transformed the lives of everyone she encountered. She brought a bounty of beauty to everything she did…with her music, her smile and unbounded love. She had a remarkable ability to connect with people, share herself and evoke that same spirit of love in each person she knew.

Marlene had a love for life. A love for family and others. She took time to watch the sunsets and rainbows and would even make you stop a vehicle to take a photo, or moo at a cow if you were out by a field. She was “Dr Google” at its finest and back in the 80s she had all the encyclopedias looking up what would ail you and what you might have long before Google even existed!  Marlene created her own language we lovingly called Marbonics with all the misspelled texts and mispronounced words over all the years we had grown to love!

Tending to her garden and flowers until joined again are her loving family: husband: Robert, daughter: Amy Jo (Tom) Ashley, three grandchildren; Clifton, Xander and Addison, siblings: Kenneth Ray (Denise) Bailey, Sandra Lee Harris, and Vivian (Gorden) Marlin.

Loved ones that cleared the path for Marlene to plant her garden and flowers in Heaven are her parents: Clifford and Lorena, son: Robert Bellemey Jr., and sister: Josephine Denton.
