Martha Lou Hershman

86 year old, Martha Lou Hershman, of Rensselaer, passed away at her home with her loving family around her on April 7, 2022.

On October 18, 1935 in Rensselaer, Indiana, Martha Lou was born to Lloyd and Dorothy Alice (Moore) Dickinson. Martha married the love of her life, Fritz Hershman on September 29, 1962, in Winamac, Indiana. Martha enjoyed riding on her golf cart, dancing, playing games, especially dice, cards, and croquet. She liked to ride horseback, and especially loved having a good time with the kids and grandkids. Martha was an animal lover and she celebrated Christmas year round. She also liked to play the piano, watch the birds and the squirrels. Martha, was a farmer’s wife, who loved helping out, being a mother, and babysitting.

Martha is survived by her loving family: husband: Fritz, children: Cathy (Bradley) Swartz, Fred (Jackie) Hershman, Rich (Wanda) Schultz, Mike Schultz, 10 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren, and sister: Sandy Tatlock, and special neighbor kids: Richard (Rhonda) Moore and family.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, first husband: Herbert Washington Schultz, daughter: Bonnie Lynette, and brother: Duane Dickinson.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 E. Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana. Services will take place on Tuesday evening, at 6:30 p.m. with Pastor Tom Dewlen officiating, at the funeral home. Graveside services will take place on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. (CST) at Independence Cemetery with Pastor Tom Dewlen officiating.
