Richard "Lefty" Ferguson

74 year old, Richard “Lefty” Ferguson, of Wheatfield, passed away September 17, 2009, with his loving family around him.

On August 19, 1935, he was born to Jacob and Catherine (nee: Booss) Ferguson, in Chicago, Illinois. He married Mary (nee: Russell) on November 6, 1950, in Rensselaer. Lefty was a lifetime area resident who was a mechanic and also dealt with auto sales. Lefty was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 406 in Wheatfield.

Lefty is survived by his loving wife: Mary, 6 sons: Richard (Linda) Ferguson, Robert (Mary) Ferguson, Randall (Shannon) Ferguson, Ronald (Margo) Ferguson, Russell (Kathy) Ferguson, and Roger (Cathy) Ferguson, along with 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren.

Lefty was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother and 2 sister.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 20, 2009, at Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana. Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, September 21, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Dennis Ramsey officiating. Interment will take place in the Wheatfield Cemetery.
