Richard Sayers

79 year old, Richard ‘Dusty’ Sayers, of Sumava Resorts, passed away July 10, 2026, at home with his loving family around him.

On March 18, 1947, Dusty was born to Vorne and Fairy (Hickman) Sayers, in Gary, Indiana. He worked as a carpenter, who always loved cutting wood and making something with his hands. Dusty was a member of the South Lake County Conservation Club, and had been a member of the Carpenters Union. He loved spending time at the farm, being outside, and just working with his hands. Dusty was a family man, who loved his family with all he had.

Dusty is survived by his daughter: Marcy (Khimmy) Anderson, 3 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and siblings: Kathy Wann, Victor (Pam) Sayers, Jack (Nancy) Sayers, David (Andrea) Sayers, Connie Sayers-Davich, Robbie (Marion) Sayers, and Brent (Denise) Sayers.

Dusty is preceded in death by his parents, son: Richard ‘Dicky’ Sayers, and brother: Garry Sayers.

Per Dusty’s wishes cremation will take place.

Friends are invited to a Celebration of Life for Dusty from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at the Southern Lake County Conservation Club, 23317 Tieble Road, Schneider, IN 46376.
