Robert J. 'Butch' Peters

Robert J. ‘Butch’ Peters, 81, of Wheatfield, passed away on June 28, 2025, at his home with his loving family around him.

On January 4, 1944, Butch was born to Frank and Helen (Marsh) Peters, in East Chicago, Indiana. He married the love of his life, Karen Kleven, on March 27, 1981, in Whiting, Indiana. Butch spent his life working as a heavy equipment operator for the Ford Motor Company. He was a member of the UAW Local 588. Butch enjoyed his time outdoors, yard work on his tractor, riding his motorcycle, and going to county fairs or the movies with his family. He loved game night, especially his longstanding competition with Dominoes.

Butch is survived by his beloved wife: Karen, children: Deanna Peters, Randall Peters, Dawn (Wayne) Giddings, Dana (Tim) Stege, 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Butch was preceded in death by his parents, son: Robert Meyers, granddaughter: Tiffany Peters, brothers: Gerald Peters, Frederick Peters, Joseph Peters, and sisters: Gloria Ramsey, Catherine Schulze, and Christina Wingard.

Per Butch’s wishes cremation will take place.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
