Robert G. 'Lou' Schaefer

86 year old, Robert G. ‘Lou’ Schaefer, of Wheatfield, passed away July 30, 2026.

On August 5, 1939, Lou was born to George and Grace (DeYoung) Schaefer, in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from DeMotte High School, class of 1957. Lou was a Marksman for the United States Marine Corp. He married the love of his life, Kathryn ‘Kate’ Corning, on May 23, 1959, in Shelby, Indiana. Lou was an active member of his community, a member of the Keener Township Fire Department, and Virgie Christian Church. He spent his career working for Fase’s as a Sales Manager. Lou was a member of the DeMotte Trail Riders, and loved motorcycles, fishing, and hunting.

Lou is survived by his loving wife: Kate, children: Dawn (Jeff) Burns, Michael (Barbara) Schaefer, 5 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and brother: Tom (Pat) Schaefer.

Lou was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters: Pat Hilton, and Barb O’Brien.

Per Lou’s wishes cremation will take place.
