Robert L Toppen

77 year old, Robert L. Toppen, of DeMotte, went to be with our Lord on September 16, 2022.

Robert ‘Bob’ was born to Melvin and Evelyn (Dexter) Toppen, on June 8, 1945, in Valparaiso, Indiana. He married the love of his life Carol Walstra on June 2, 1967, in DeMotte, Indiana. Bob worked in the auto body repair industry, working at Carroll Chevrolet, and Jonkman’s Auto Repair. He especially liked old cars, and a 1964 Chevelle was his favorite. He loved seeing friends at the Monday night Car Show, at Dairy Queen in DeMotte.

Robert is survived by his loving wife: Carol, children: Steve Toppen, and Jill (Bryant) Marcotte, 4 grandchildren: Madison, Isabella, Nash, Remi, siblings: Jim (Eileen) Toppen, Karen (Paul) Kamminga, Margaret Tillema, sister-in-law: Rita Toppen, step-mother: Margaret Toppen, many nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents: Melvin & Evelyn, siblings: Melvin ‘Jr’ Toppen and Eleanor Kingma.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at First Church, Wheatfield, Indiana. Services for Bob will take place at the church on Tuesday, at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor John Hill officiating.
