It is with profound love and eyes fixed on heaven that we announce the passing of Roy ‘Bud’ Lynn Bennett, age 81, of Centertown, Kentucky. He left us peacefully on Monday, July 13, 2026. Bud was born on August 19, 1944, in Centertown, Kentucky, to Conrad Hill Bennett and Lucille Whitehead. Bud was a devoted husband, a loving brother, a beloved father, a Papaw, and a fervent preacher of the Good News gospel of Jesus Christ. He built a meaningful life dedicated to his family and his community.
Bud was a dedicated minister of the gospel of Jesus, spending over 33 years in active Christian ministry as an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God. Beyond his life’s work and ministry, his true legacy was being an exceptional father. He will forever be remembered for his quick wit, lovable personality, and impressively generous heart, beloved by all. He was the anchor of our family and taught us to love deeply and care for all those whom God places in our lives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters: Betty Bliss, Brenda Light, Teresa Freyek, and brother: Gary Bennett. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 60 years: Romona, his children: Melanie (Jay) Buckley, Michele (Randy) Groseclose, Michael (Aimee) Bennett, his eight (8) grandchildren: Katie Buckley, Brooklynn (Jamison) Hossler, Jordan (Ashley) Groseclose, Zachariah Groseclose, Kaitlynn Groseclose, Ashley Bennett, Kailee Bennett, Gabe Bennett, two (2) great-grandchildren: Rosie Hossler, Miley Groseclose, his four (4) living siblings: Sharon (Sue) Hardesty, Johnny (Joyce) Bennett, Cathy (John) Denham, Debbie (Gary) Raketich, and many other extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
A viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the Boersma Funeral Home, located at 90 E. Grove St., Wheatfield, IN 46392. A celebration of Bud’s life will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. Friends and loved ones are invited to join us to share stories and celebrate the wonderful man he was.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to Centertown Baptist Church, P.O. Box 643, Centertown, KY 42328.
