94 year old, Russell Howard Bahler, passed away March 18, 2023.
On March 15, 1929, Russell was born to Robert and Rosa (Frey) Bahler, in Remington, Indiana. He married the love of his life, Dottie Mae Gray on June 24, 1956, in Hillsboro, Indiana. Russell was an electrician who was self-employed. He also served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Remington American Legion Post #280, and Masonic Lodge Post #351. He was on the Remington bowling league for many years. He was a die-hard Cubs fan. Russell also enjoyed playing horseshoes, and softball while vacationing in Florida. Russell served on the Remington Town Board. He was also very family oriented. He was the ‘grandpa’ to go to for candy stand money at the Chautauqua. Russ served as the official Remington Fountain Park Chautauqua electrician for many years.
Russell is survived by his children: Melonye (Ray) Schebler, Todd (Mary Ann) Bahler, 5 grandchildren: Robert, Mark, Cody, Morgan, Brittney, and 3 great-grandchildren: Alex, Leela, Mason, and two on the way.
and sister: Betty Hall.
Russell was preceded in death by his wife: Dottie, his parents, and siblings: Victor Bahler, Don Bahler, Alberta ‘Bert’ Thomas.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. (EST) on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at the Remington United Methodist Church, 121 S. Ohio St., Remington, Indiana. Services for Russell will take place at 11:00 a.m. (EST) at the church with Pastor Cathi Parish officiating, and a military service will follow.
Interment will take place at a later time.
