Rusta Ault

Rusta A. Ault, of Valparaiso, passed away September 8, 2026.

On December 13, 1944, Rusta was born to Wayne Showalter and Faye (Criswell) Johnson, in Logansport, Indiana. She received a Bachelor’s Degree from Valparaiso University and also holds two Master’s Degrees. Rusta utilized her many talents in various positions at Indiana Information Controls, Bethlehem Steel, and McGills. She also taught math at Oregon Davis School and later worked at Jaymar-Ruby in Michigan City as a computer programmer. She retired from Valparaiso University where she was the administrative assistant for the Department of Geography and Meteorology for 15 years and has been recognized in academic papers for her contributions to data acquisition for university research projects. Rusta also served her church for many years as an usher, clerk, church reader, and Sunday School pianist. She loved arts and crafts, and was a painter, enjoyed weaving, crosstitch, quilting, reading, and watching television.

Rusta is survived by her daughter: Nikke (Alex Yarian) Ault, siblings: Shae (Doug) Hughes, Robin (Steve) Bartholomew, Robert (Jeanie) Johnson II, and her beloved grandkitties: Cookie and Brownie.

Rusta was preceded in death by her parents: Wayne Showalter, Faye Johnson, and her step-father: Robert Johnson I.

Per Rusta’s wishes, there will be no services.
