81 year old, Ruth L. Van Swol of DeMotte passed away April 2, 2015 at her home with her loving family around her.
Ruth Loraine Ketelaar of DeMotte was born July 4, 1933 to Jacob and Sadie (Venema) Ketelaar in Phoenix, Illinois. Ruth lived in Phoenix, Thornton & South Holland, Illinois, while she was growning up and attended Illiana Christian High School.
Ruth married Conrad Van Swol on May 5, 1953 in South Holland, Illinois. Con and Ruth moved to Norfolk, Virginia, while Con was stationed in the U.S. Navy. Upon his discharge in 1954 they moved to Harvey, Illinois, until 1963 when they moved to DeMotte, Indiana where they have lived since. Ruth devoted herself to her family but also started and ran the Wooden Shoe Café in DeMotte.
Con & Ruth have four daughters that they gave the best childhood a kid could ever want.
Vicki (Mitch) Belstra, Denise (Ron) Jensen, Ronda Oliver, Darci (Dan) DeVries. They also have 10 wonderful grandchildren and 16 beautiful great-grandchildren that they truly enjoy.
Per the families wishes no wake or memorial service will take place.
