Sallyann P. Jones

Sallyann P. Jones (87) of New Carlisle, Indiana, passed away January 14, 2024, at her home with her loving family around her.

On March 5, 1936, Sallyann was born to Sylvester Riffel, and Ruth (Nimtz) Riffel-Cudd. Upon graduation from New Carlisle High School, Sallyann worked for the telephone company and later worked at New Prairie Jr. High School in the library and then in the High School as the high school secretary.  Mostly though, her job was being a wonderful Mom!

Sallyann could be tough with the students, but always had a big heart and if a student did not have money for lunch, she would help them out to ensure they ate.  Grandma Sally was loving and thoughtful and never forgot her grandchildren, Jacob, Cara, Amanda, Audrey, and Eric’s birthdays with a card and a call.  She loved “Camp Grandma” with her sister and nieces and nephews each year at her house.  She liked to knit, read, and watch game shows and especially enjoyed the Andy Griffith Show. She enjoyed going out to eat with friends, wearing flip-flops, and her tulips in the flower garden.  Sally had many close friends in the community and from her days working at the high school. She attended Holy Family Parish in LaPorte, Indiana.  Sallyann was a light in her community and will be missed by many.

Sallyann is survived by her children: Craig (Karen) Jones, Scott (Michelle) Jones, five grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and siblings: Ruthann (Bob) Cicha, Dan (Mark Willis) Riffel, and David Riffel.

Sallyann was preceded in death by her parents and sister: Kathy Hicks.

The family is planning a Celebration of Life service in the Spring or Summer.
