Sam "Gink" Bowen

72 year old, Sam “Gink” Bowen Jr. of Wheatfield, passed away February 7, 2008.

 

Sam was born in Jasper County on December 17, 1935, to the late Sam Bowen Sr. and Chelcie Patrick-Bowen. Sam attended Wheatfield High School. Gink married Sue Carter in 1965.

 

Sam served in the U. S. Army

 

Sam was a heavy equipment operator for the 150 Operating Engineers for 45 years. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Hebron, Moose, American Legion Post 406, Orak Shriners.

 

Surviving with his loving wife Sue are three children: Penny (Mark) Bowsher, Michele Bowen, and Sam Bowen III. Four grandchildren and three sisters: Lucille L. Savich, Mary Ruth “Toots” Stowers and Betty Ketchum also survive.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, Carol Dunn; 2 brothers, Chuck and Mel Bowen.

 

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 10, 2008 with 7:00 p.m. Masonic Service, at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana.

 

Services for Gink will be held at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove St., Wheatfield, on Monday, February 11, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Roger Sculley. Interment will take place in the San Pierre Cemetery with Military Graveside Rights.
