Susan A. Brooks

76 year old, Susan A. Brooks, of Rensselaer, passed away July 22, 2023.

On November 10, 1946, in East Chicago, Indiana, Susan was born to Gilford and Thelma (Chumbley) Koch. She married Julius Brooks, whom she loved dearly on May 9, 1970 in Hammond, Indiana. Susan enjoyed being a homemaker. She loved to garden, doing crafts, and embroidery. Susan especially enjoyed the time she spent with her friends at Bible Study and the Senior Center at Francesville. Her great-niece and great-nephew always brought many smiles to her face. Susan’s true love and joy in her life were her grandchildren.

Susan is survived by her loving family: daughters: Tracie (James) Smoot, Barbie Evans (fiance’: Michael Henninger), grandchildren: Puck, Zen, & Bodhi Smoot,  Riley & Mason Evans, Juvia & Samara Henninger, brother: Karl (Sharon) Koch, sister: Lisa (Michael) Hutchinson, her fur baby: Dahlia, and several nieces & nephews, and great-nieces & great-nephews.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, and husband: Julius.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove Street, Wheatfield, Indiana. Services for Susan will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. with Pastor Tom Dewlen officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gabriel’s Home, 372-A Franciscan Dr., Valparaiso, IN 46385.

Per Susan’s wishes cremation will follow and interment will take place in the Wheatfield Cemetery.
