Terry L. Banks

Terry L. Banks, 65 year old, of Wheatfield, passed away April 12, 2017 at Porter Regional Hospital.

Terry was born on August 20, 1951 to Prentis & Helen (Stepp) Banks in Rensselaer, Indiana. Terry graduated from Wheatfield High School class of 1969.

Terry worked at Arcelor-Mittal Steel (formerly Bethlehem Steel) for 47 years. He loved playing basketball and was once honored to be leading scorer in the Bethlehem Steel Men’s Basketball League. Summers were spent playing softball in various leagues. The family would pack up each weekend for tournaments from St. Louis to Michigan.

Terry was a member of DeMotte United Methodist Church serving as chairperson of church council and trustee for many years. He was also member of Wheatfield Masonic Lodge #642 and Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend, and the Order of the Eastern Star of Hebron #119.

Terry’s greatest joy was watching his four grandchildren play basketball, volleyball, and baseball. We are all going to miss him.

Terry is survived by his loving family: wife: Suellen (Jones) Banks, daughters: Nicki (Jeff) Paris and Stephanie (Aaron) Webster, 4 grandchildren: Kailee Webster, Isabelle Paris, Ella Paris, Camden Webster, brother: Joe (Mary) Banks, and sister-in-law: Linda Banks.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents: Prentis & Helen Banks, brothers: Prentis ‘Tim’ Banks Jr. & Jerry Michael Banks, and sister-in-law: Donna J. Banks, and grandson: Jacob Alexander Paris.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, April 15, 2017, from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm at Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana. A Masonic service will take place at 2:00 pm on Saturday. Funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Ed van Wijk immediately following the Masonic service. Interment will follow services at the Kankakee Township Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church of DeMotte.
