Vernon Vanderhere

Vernon Vanderhere, 74 years, of Wheatfield passed away June 20, 2013.

On December 4, 1938, Vernon was born to Vernon F. and Florence V. (Brasker) Vanderhere in Gray, Indiana. Vernon received an Associates degree in Business Management. He married Joyce E. MacGowan on April 4, 1959, in Gary, Indiana. Vernon worked for MidWest Steel as a foreman for 28 years and for Lakeshore Dunes as a Maintenance Manager for 6 years.

Vernon is survived by his wife: Joyce, children: David (Stella) Vanderhere, Tim (Vanessa) Vanderhere, Sheryl Sako, and Brenda (Keith) Kalinke, and 8 grandchildren: DJ Vanderhere, Michael Vanderhere, Matthew Vanderhere, Brianna Vanderhere, Caden Vanderhere, Madelyn Vanderhere, Grace Gidley, and Tyler Simmons.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, sister & brother-in-law: Imogene & Don Knutilla, and son-in-law: Terry Sako.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana. Services for Vernon will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. with Pastor Dave Patterson officiating.

Per Vernon’s request cremation has taken place and his ashes will be interred at a later date.
