17 year old, Ethan T. Schoonveld, of DeMotte, passed away January 15, 2021, as the result of an auto accident.
Ethan was born to Dustin Schoonveld and Mandi Tognarelli, on September 12, 2003, in Hobart, Indiana. Ethan was a junior at Kankakee Valley High School, a member of Grace Fellowship Youth Group, K.V.H.S. Band playing his trombone, Trail Blazers 4-H Club, and Adolescent Suicide Prevention Program as a mentor. He enjoyed restoring old tools and playing video games.
Ethan never met a stranger. He had a way of making others feel comfortable, like they had been friends for years instead of minutes. He always greeted you with a smile and a handshake or a hug. The reach of those touched by Ethan spanned beyond our town, our state, even our country. He was always willing to put aside anything to help someone else.
In closing, this seems to be the theme the family has had repeated to them by those who knew him.
Ethan is survived by his loving family: mother: Mandi Tognarelli, father: Dustin (Jennifer) Schoonveld, siblings: Andrew Schoonveld, Anabella Schoonveld, Natalie Schoonveld, and Kayla Musch, grandparents: Rob & Kathy Schoonveld, Tom (Kristina) Tognarelli, Jodi (Terry) Cooper, and Susan Stemper.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 E. Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana. Private graveside services will be held at the Holland Cemetery with Pastor James Stacy officiating.
In lieu of flowere memorials are requested for the Grace Fellowship Youth Group.
