Gregory M. Barkowski

57 year old, Gregory M. Barkowski, of Wheatfield, passed away on August 14, 2020.

Greg was born on October 6, 1962, to David and Sandra (Porter) Barkowski in Hammond, Indiana. Greg graduated from Kankakee Valley High School 1980. He was in the U.S. Air Force. Greg worked as an electrician and computer automation at Prairie's Edge Dairy Farms. He attended Grace Fellowship, and was a member of the Wheatfield American Legion Post #406. Greg enjoyed NASCAR and dirt track racing. He loved fishing and deer hunting with his kids and duck hunting with his nephews. Greg loved being with his family and boating at his parent's place on Lake Van Auken. Greg was also a past member of the Keener Township Volunteer Fire Department.

Greg is survived by his wife: Tonya, parents: David & Sandra, children: Whitney Moore, Emily (Anthony) Barkowski, Tom Gilkerson, Luke Gilkerson, Thomas Barkowski, Ryanne Gilkerson,  grandsons: Mason & Levi, and siblings: Debbie (Bob) Regnier, and Christine (Rick) Halliar.

Greg was preceded in death by his grandparents.

A celebration of life will take place on August 23, 2020,  3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Wheatfield American Legion Post #406, services for Greg will take place at 3:30 p.m. with Pastor Tim Hestor officiating, Military Honors will also take place.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.
