88 year old, Raymond Caldwell, of Kouts, passed away January 10, 2021.
Raymond was born to Ira and Lula (Cavinder) Caldwell, on August 18, 1932, in Medaryville, Indiana. Raymond graduated from Wheatfield High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Army. He also worked at U.S. Steel – Gary Works for 32 years. He married Pearl Ann (Renslow, who preceded him) on June 30, 1960. Ray then married Carol (Sweede) – Enright on July 23, 1990 (who also preceded him). Raymond was a member of the Kouts American Legion Post #301, VFW in Valparaiso, and the Moose of Valparaiso. Ray liked to fish in his spare time. Ray enjoyed helping at bingo at the Legion, occasional trips to the casino, playing pool, working out at the YMCA every morning and watching game shows.
Raymond is survived by his family: Juanita Bentley, Crissy Starkey, Tammy (Ray) Miller, Terry Whitaker, Carollee Kerns, 7 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Raymond was preceded in death by his wives: Pearl Ann and Carol, and special friend: Mayola Humes, siblings: Sam Caldwell, Robert Caldwell, Carl Caldwell, John Caldwell, Dorothy Zimmer, and infant brother Leslie Caldwell.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Thursday, January 14, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Boersma Funeral Home, Wheatfield, Indiana. Services for Ray will take place at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Jeffrey Starkey officiating. A graveside service will take place on Friday, January 15, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wheatfield Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Kouts American Legion Post #301.
