Raymond K. Poortinga

72 year old, Raymond K. Poortinga, of DeMotte, passed away February 19, 2021.

On January 11, 1949, Raymond was born to Daniel and Evelyn (DeVries) Poortinga, in Hammond, Indiana. He graduated from Illiana Christian High School attended IDPTI, and married the love of his life, Cindy Lagestee on June 6, 1970, in Munster, Indiana. Ray was a computer operator and then a truck driver. Ray enjoyed fishing, gardening, camping and traveling.

Ray is survived by his loving family: wife: Cindy, daughter: Jody (Craig) Hill, daughter-in-law: Kari Poortinga (Tim) Coffer, 5 grandchildren, siblings: David (Linda) Poortinga, Kevin (Barb) Poortinga, Jessica (Daniel) Wiersma, and many nieces and nephews.

Ray was preceded in death by his son: Jared Poortinga, and his parents.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at the Community Christian Reformed Church of Roselawn. Services for Ray will take place at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jim Busscher officiating. Interment will take place at a later date at the Holland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials are requested for Mobility Ministries, Inc., Wheatfield, Indiana.
