Ray was born on June 16, 1942, in Medaryville, Indiana to Hallie Everett and Edna Mae (Brick) Saltsman. On May 19, 1962, he married Shirley Ann Shelton, the love of his life. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage. Ray worked hard through the years to provide for his family, being employed by Chet Coburn, Kiser Aluminum, Hicks Gas, Northway, Allis Chalmers, Monon Trailer and he retired in 2011 after many years of working at Talbert Trailers. He also served on the Medaryville Town Board. He deeply loved his family and cherished spending time with them. He also enjoyed building and remodeling, yardwork, feeding and watching birds & squirrels, hunting, fishing, camping, bonfires and cookies. Being a jack of all trades, he was the one that everyone in the family went to for help.  Ray loved teaching people how to care for things and others. He was a member of Amazing Grace Fellowship Church in Francesville, IN.
